It was only natural that the love of gardens would grow into a love and nurturing of the most beloved pollinator; the honeybee. Gary ordered the bees within hours of having a heart attack, but instead of giving up on our dream, we politely declined the kind offer to get a refund for our first two colonies of honeybees. We have since grown to ten hives, naming the tenth split we made "The Tenth Kingdom." That colony is doing nicely at its new home, even after a rough winter. We sell only the healthiest bees and are inspected by the State of Tennessee.
For our plant-loving friends who are not bothered by some bees coming up to them and saying "Hello," we also sell local plants grown in our own "Backyard of Serenity and Songbirds." Nursery stock varies by what plants have done so well that we are forced to thin them, weather, and demand by our loyal customers.
There is no way to describe honey that was made naturally from local plant sources! Our honey was entered in the largest honey show in the last half century in the "black jar" division, which is judged on taste alone. No ribbons to brag about (yet), but a judge told us that our delicious honey made it to the top 20% in the judging. Not bad for the first try! We have a limited supply of honey for $16 a pound.
